THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2019 PLANNING A STAGECOACH TRIP TO PALO DURO CANYON TEXAS

Howdy, howdy! We are coming along really well with the planning of our next stagecoach trip, In The Shadow Of The Palo Duro–A Stagecoach Journey Thru Comancheria.  Palo Duro Canyon is in west Texas and was occupied by the Comanche before the 1860’s.  The Comanche were hunters and traders. One thing that made them gain power was trading goods for horses. Having horses gave them the ability to travel a lot more miles and cover bigger areas.

In 2016 we made a spectacular stagecoach run, Last Stage To Matador, thru the bottom 1/3 of Palo Duro Canyon.  Next year in May of 2020 we have planned to start a stagecoach run further north along the upper canyon. This canyon is very rugged with steep cliffs covered with some vegetation and a lot of loose rock.  The Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River initially winds along the level surface of the Llano Estacado of West Texas, then suddenly and dramatically runs off the Caprock Escarpment. There are some very dramatic landscape scenes.

We are very fortunate to have met some great friends in Texas who will help to make this historic trip happen. We are so very grateful to them for sharing their part of Texas with us. If you go thru Silverton Texas stop at the Night Owl Espresso and Tea Bar & the Ghost Horse Gallery and have a cup of coffee or latte, cake or brownie while looking at their gifts, clothes, and artwork.
