We had very special times this past week with the seniors in Howell County. The following banks, Landmark Bank, Arvest Bank, Southern Bank, West Plains Bank & Trust, and Dr Ulmanis Animal Clinic purchased our book, Last Stage To Matador to share with local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We delivered these books to South View Health Care Center, Brooke Haven Nursing Home, NHC Healthcare, Pleasant Valley Manor, West Plains Senior Center, and West Vue Nursing Center.

We spent 2-3 hours at each of these wonderful facilities visiting and sharing history with the residents. We listened to the wonderful stories as Rick spoke to each person in each group. What a wonderful history lesson we got! They told of themselves and family members in WWI, WWII, Korean War, Viet Nam War, farming, picking cotton, of their birthplaces, of Ma Barker coming thru West Plains, of good times and hard times like the Dust Bowl and Depression era. One man told us he was born in a cave in Oregon County. A lady told us of being born in a tent in a tent city in Oklahoma. Another lady grew up in Germany and said her family lost everything during WWII. And then there was the gentleman who was in the 10th Mountain Division during WWII. Precious stories. Precious memories.

We were proud we took the time to listen to these wonderful stories about families and friends.
